'The neighborhood she's in is known for people dumping their unwanted pets there': Girlfriend finds a meowjestic Maine Coon cat abandoned all alone and immediately knows that she has to save him

Adopt, don't shop. That has always been the ICHC motto. There are so many cats out there that need homes, and each and every one of of them is capable of being the best pet that you have ever had, if only given a chance. But… no matter how often we say it, some people still buy cats, and that will never change. Because some breeds are just too ameowzing to look away from. And one of them is the meowjestic Maine coon cat.

Maine Coon cats are expensive. People are willing to pay a lot of money to get their hands on one, so a lot of people breed Maine Coon cats just for that. They are exceptionally large, fluffy and intelligent. We get it. We really do. But our morals would not allow us to buy a cat for thousands of dollars when there are so many cats in need on the streets. All of which is why we were so shocked to see a couple find a Maine Coon abandoned on the street.

  • Dumping a cat on the street is one of the most unimaginable things to us. But dumping a cat like this? A cat that would get adopted by hundreds of cat people in an instant? That's just criminal. The person who abandoned this cat didn't even try, and that's just sad.

    My girlfriend found this big beautiful boy shivering under a bush yesterday. She said she's been seeing him around the area for a few weeks now. Unfortunately the neighborhood she's in is known for people dumping their unwanted pets there :(

    He's so sweet and affectionate and loves wet cat food. But he's also super skinny and has mats all over his belly. We already checked and he's not microchipped. He's a big boy, I'd guess around 13-15lbs even being so thin.

    Definitely bigger than my roommate's 11lb ragdoll. We think he might be a Maine coon or at least part but we'll take him to the vet soon to get a full exam. He still doesn't have a name but we're leaning towards Muppet (if anyone knows Gaffer, he reminded us of her)!

    Alternative-Bee-2309 OP 15h ago I know it's so horrible :( we're definitely a bit worried that he might have some health issues or something and that's why he was dumped. We'll take him to the vet though and whatever it is we'll figure it out

  • Well… their loss is your gain, and we are not mad about it. This cat has experienced enough difficulty in its life. It's time to be loved and pampered until the very end, and that is exactly what he is going to get here.
